Kim Burrell won't be on The Ellen Show today
Kim Burrell won’t be appearing with Pharrell Williams, on Ellen DeGeneres’ show today, to perform the song “I See A Victory” from the movie Hidden Figures.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Ellen DeGeneres tweeted, “For those of you asking, Kim Burrell will not be appearing on my show.”
This is definitely a set-back for Burrell, who tweeted on December 21, 2016, that she and Williams were going to appear on the show.
Burrell got herself in some hot water after she decided to tell her congregation about sin.
Now, now, now, Burrell didn’t talk about the sins that generally come to mind like lying, cheating, stealing, and killing.
No sir, those sins were not Burrell’s “hot sinful” topics for the day. Burrell did decide to talk about what she called that “perverted sin,” homosexuality, and how it will lead folks straight down to hell with gasoline drawers on.
Burrell told the congregation, “Anybody in this church who’s been in the homosexual experience, beg God to free you…that perverted homosexual spirit is a spirit of delusion and confusion and has deceived many men and women. It’s caused a stain on the body of Christ.”
It must be noted that Jesus Christ has not responded to Burrell’s comment about homosexuality causing his superior, God body to be stained.
Humans, however, have responded to what they think about Burrell’s out dated comments.
Pharrell Williams, Hidden Figure stars Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, went to Instagram to let folks know what they really think about Kim Burrell’s sermon.
Williams wrote, “There is no room in this world for any kind of prejudice. My greatest hope is for inclusion and love for all humanity in 2017 and beyond.”
Spencer said that everyone is due respect and “are all God’s children equal in his eyes.”
Monae was blunter in her response. She wrote that she is tired of “the shit” people say and write and that folks need to stop trying to be “GOD, Jesus’ assistant.”
Monae ended by giving advice to all the haters out there, “If your religion is causing you to spew out words of hate, judge, or look down on others because of who one loves then you need to change it.”
During her sermon, Burrell made it clear that love wasn’t something folks in the LGBTQ deserved.
She scoffed at the idea and told her congregation that it is the “serpent of the devil telling” them to love the LGBTQ community, and that the penalty for those engaging in homosexuality will be death in 2017.
After being called out, Burrell went to her Facebook page to explain herself. Needless to say, she made the situation worse.
Burrell told everyone that she wasn’t talking about the LGBTQ community, but “S-I-N” , which she preached the LGBTQ are engaging in.
Entertainment Weekly quoted her as saying, “I have to do what God tells me to do. I make no excuses or apologies. My heart is as pure as it comes and you know it when you hear me sing, that’s why you follow me.”
God hasn’t said whether He told her to mess up her career or not. However, it is more than likely that she was led a stray by that “serpent of the devil” who she says is making homosexuality o-kay.
